Q

Name the 4 structural classification of neurons.

A
  1. Anaxonic neuron- more than 2 processes. Axon can’t be distinguished from dendrites. Found in CNS in special senses organs
  2. Bipolar neuron- have 2 processes separated by cell body. Unmyelinated axons found in special senses organs
  3. Pseudounipolar neuron: one elongated process with cell body on one side of PNS. Sensory information to CNS. Axons myelinated = to secure fast information transmission
  4. Multipolar neuron- CNS myelinated axon. Normal neuron

7
Q

Name the 3 functional groups of neurons.

A
  1. Sensory neurons- PNS Afferent division. Psuedounipolar neurons
  2. Motor neurons- CNS effector division. Multipolar neurons
  3. Interneurons or association neurons- in between 2 neirons. Multipolar neurons

A. Exteroceptors
B. Proprioceptors
C. Interoceptors

A

C. Interoceptors

17
Q

T/F

Proprioceptors and interoceptors are both internal environment.

A

True

18
Q

What organelles do typical neurons have?

A

Dendrites, cell body(soma), axon, terminal boutons

Nucleus, nucleolus, mitochondrion, axon hillock

19
Q

Axon hillock

A
  • point of no return

* axon starts, signals transmitted from dendrites through cell body pass axon hillock and can’t return back
