Neurons Flashcards
Sensory Neurone
(Nucleus in middle of cell)
. Found in receptors and carry nerve impulses to CNS
^ when reach brain translated to sensations (e.g: hearing) but some stop at spinal cord to allow quick reactions
Relay Neurone
(no mylin or nodes of ranvir as too short so not needed)
. Found in CNS and allows sensory and motor neurons to communicate
Motor Neurone
(A lot shorter than sensory Neurone)
. Found in CNS
. When stimulated, release neurotransmitters that bind to receptors on muscles to trigger a response which leads to movements
All neurons share
. Nucleus within cell
. Dendrites = receive electrical impulses from other neurons and direct them to cell body
. Axon = carries electrical impulses away from cell body and length varies
. Synaptic Terminals = communicate with dendrites of other neurons
