A 24 year old patient presents to the GP. He complains of a headache that he experiences yesterday, it lasted 2 hours and was sharp and stabbing on the left side of his head around his left eye.

During the headache he tried repeated positions to improve the headache but these didnt help. He was unable to work or study, lying down didnt help. He also experienced his eyes feeling watery and a stuffy nose.

He has never had this happen before and he is concerned that he might have a brain tumour.

What is the the most likely diagnosis and what is the recommended treatment for this conditions in the acute setting

Migraine without aura.

First line treatment: Offer combination therapy with oral triptan and an NSAID/paracetamol.
For younger people aged 12 - 17 offer a nasal triptan.
