describe myasthenias Gravis
-“ Mighty good in the mornining”
-Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a neuromuscular disorder characterized by muscle weakness and fatigue, often starting with the muscles that control eye and eyelid movement, facial expression, and swallowing.
-tacks the acetylcholine receptors
-As a result of the receptor destruction, fewer acetylcholine receptors are available for nerve impulses to stimulate muscle contractions, leading to muscle weakness and fatigue.
-eep tendon reflexes (DTR) are usually normal in MG because they are mediated by different receptors and are not affected by the acetylcholine receptor autoantibodies.
-Pyridostigmine is a medication used to treat MG by increasing the amount of acetylcholine available at the neuromuscular junction and improving muscle strength.–>floods the remainign receptors with acetylcholine to work properly
