Neurology Flashcards
Signs and symptoms associated with neurological disease
Headache, dizziness, fainting, numbness
Upper motor neurons
Contralateral, lower part of the face
Weakness in the lower part of the face only as the frontal muscles have a bi- cortical representation
Common in strokes
Lower motor neurons
Whole half of the face( one side)
Ipsilateral

Trochlear - double vision when looking down
Abducens - eye turns medially in lesion - leading to double vision
Trigeminal neuralgia
Sudden, short lived electric like recurrent pain in the distribution area of the trigeminal nerve
Pain can be triggered
Treatment:
Cabramezapine, phenytoin, gabapentin
