How is a suspected SAH investigated?

A

CT scan - false negative of 5%, so lumbar puncture require to exclude SAH.
Determination of cause/planning treatment:
Digital subtraction angiography (type of fluoroscopy technique) gold standard
(may also use CTA/MRA)

How is an aneurysm treated?

A
Craniotomy and clipping
or Endovascular (detachable platinum coils dropped into aneurysm - slows blood flow and allows thrombosis to occur)
