Management of spasticity in CP

A

Localised / Segmental Spasticity

  • Botulinum toxin A is effective + generally safe un upper + lower extremities
  • Conflicting evidence RE functional improvement as severe generalised weakness can occur

Generalised Spasticity

  • Diazepam short term (SE= sedation, drowsiness, hypersalivation, weakness)
