Neuroanatomy Flashcards
1
Q
Afferent nerves
A
Send signals to the brain
2
Q
Efferent nerves
A
Send signals away from the brain
3
Q
Mesencephalon (location, structures, function)
A
Location: Superior to the pons, inferior to the diencephalon
Structures: Substantia nigra, superior peduncles connecting the brainstem and the cerebellum
Function: Controls many motor and sensory functions
4
Q
Metencephalon/pons (location, structures, function)
A
Location: Bridges the two halves of the cerebellum
Structures: Inferior and middle peduncles, is the pons
Function: Contains many descending motor fibers and is involved with transmitting information between the ccerebellum and various cerebral structures
