Neuroanatomy**** Flashcards
what are the different kinds of glial cells and give the roles
astrocytes - many numerous processes. roles in support, maintaining the BBB, environmental homeostasis
oligodendrocytes - produce myelin in the CNS
microglia-cells of similar lining to macrophages - immune monitoring and antigen presentation
ependymal cells - ciliated cuboidal/columnar epithelium that lines the ventricles
are there more glial cells or neurones
glial (support) cells outnumber neurones
which cells induce endothelial cells in the capillary to maintain a tight endothelial barrier
astrocytes
which cells come from the bone marrow
microglia
which cells form the border and are ciliated but do not form a barrier
ependymal - not “true” epithelium because of this
