A 35 yr old male who is normally fit and well presents to you with a severe headache, he is sensitive to the light and complains that his neck is stiff. He is febrile and is acting confused.
You suspect that he might have meningitis.
What treatment would you give?
A
Steroids immediately - dexamethasone
Abx:
Cefotaxime (cephalosporin that crosses the BBB)
Amoxicillin - B lactam for listeria
