Networks prio2 Flashcards
What are TDMA and RMA? What is the mean transmission delay in TDMA and RMA?
TDMA Time Division Multiple Access and RMA Random Multiple access. They are both channel access methods allowing multiple users to share a single medium.
TDMA divides into time slots, each users using its own time slot. IN RMA users transmits in a random amount of time.
Low arrival rate dTdma = M+1/2 and drma=1
High arrival rate dtdma = M+1/2 and drma=(different for different RMA schemes)
What are the building blocks IEEE 802.11 specification?
They are “Listen” before transmit “carrier-sense”.
Confirm when received successfully (“ACK”)
Random delays prior to the retransmission (“backoff”).
What is the operation of IEEE 802.11 CSMA/CA protocol in RTS/CTS mode?
What are the principle of broadcast, multicast and anycast routing?
Anycast allows multiple servers to share the same IP. Typically used by DNS for faster delivery. multicast (group), anycast (single).
What does ICMP contain?
Type: Type, code, checksum, pointer which indentifies problem in the original IP message, internet header.
What is an M/M/I system? What is the average queing delay for M/M/I system?
What is a Markov chain?
What is the memoryless property? Name two example that uses this property.
How are pages with none-text content opened?
How are cookies used?
How does the DNS work?
Which transport layer protocol is used by the “youtube” video sharing website and why?
What are cascading style sheets (CSS)?
