Networks and Topologies Flashcards
What is LAN?
LAN is local Area Network which is used to connect devices in a single building or location.
What is WAN?
WAN is Wide Area Network, which is used to connect devices over a large geographical area.
What are the factors that affect the performance of a network?
Number of Users on the network
Bandwidth of the transmission medium
Network Latency
What is Bandwidth?
Bandwidth is the maximum rate of data transfer across a given path.
What is Network Latency?
Network latency, sometimes called lag, is the term used to describe delays in communication over a network
What is a client-server network?
It is where the clients access resources and services from a central computer.
What is a peer-to-peer network?

Host has to carry out security backups.
Unclear who has ownership of the cloud data.
What are webservers?
It is a computer software and appropriate hardware which accepts HTTP OR HTTPS requests.
