What is TCP/IP?
The protocol that dictates how data is sent between devices on a network
What is TCP?
TCP splits data up into packets containing a header about hiw to reach the destination and a payload
What is the IP part of TCP/IP?
It is the internet protocol and gives every packet an IP about where its come from and where to go

Application layer

What does the application layer do?
Encapulation, Creates and interprets data (HTTPS, IMAP, FTP)
What does the transport layer do?
Splits / joins data (TCP)
What does the internet layer do?
Adds adresses to the layer (IP)
What does the network access layer do?
Converts data into electrical signal
What is the difference between a LAN and WAN?
A WAN covers a large geographical area and connects multiple LANs
What is a network?
Two or more devices/nodes connected together to share resources
What is a wide area network?
A network that covers a large geographical area and requires a connection to a third party.
What is a Local area network?
A network where you do not connect to any third party services and covers a small geographical area.
