Advantages

  • Cheaper
  • Less venerable to centre server crashes
  • Simpler to set up and maintain

Disadvantages

  • Slower processing of tasks
  • Only works well on small networks <15
  • Security and backup are not centralised and difficult to manage
  • Access to data depends on the owners permission

Advantages

  • Faster processing of tasks
  • Can manage large networks
  • Centralised control with servers doing many management functions themselves
  • Offers easy access to centralised data

Disadvantages

  • More expensive as software system more complex and need to buy servers
  • If server crashes no one can continue work
  • Require specialist personnel to manage server
