Networking Today Flashcards
What is Intranet?
Intranet is a network that any company uses to share data and information to employees.
As a sys admin, what are you looking for when building a network?
- Fault tolerance
- Scalability
- Quality of Service
- Security
What is a Fault-Tolerance Network?
A fault-tolerance network is a network that limits end users from failure: opens up redundant pathways for data to travel to another end device.
What is Scalability?
Scalability is when new end devices and services join a network without degrading the performance of the existing network and end users.
What are three things to look for security in A LAN network?
- Confidentiality
- Integrity
- Availability
What is The Internet?
The internet consists of interconnected WIDE AREA NETWORKS. WAN are available via Internet Service Providers.
What is Confidential?
Confidentially in a network is to make sure the intended end user gets the data and no one else.
What is Integrity in network security
Integrity makes sure the data doesn’t get altered during transmission.
What is Availability in a network security?
Availability makes sure every data is available to end users reliably without any problems.
What are the types of Protocols?
- Network Communications Protocol
- Network Security Protocols
- Service discovery Protocols
Whats does Network Communication Protocol entails?
This protocols enable two or more devices to communicate over one or more networks. Examples include: IP, TCP, HTTP and more.
What does Network Security Protocols
Entails?
This protocols secure data to provide authentication, Data integrity, and data encryption. Examples of this include: Secure Shell, Secure Socket Layer, and Transport Layer Security
What does Routing Protocol entail?
Routing Protocols enable routers to exchange route information, compare path information and select the best path to the destination network. Examples include: Open Shortest Path First. And Border Gateway Protocol.
What does Service discovery entail?
Service discovery protocol are used for automatic detection of devices or services. Examples include Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol, which discovers services for ip address allocation; and DNS which is used to preform name-to-Ip address translation
The physical layer standards address three functional areas?
- physical components
- encoding
- Signaling.
