Q

What are the roles of each of the neurons?

A

Sensory: bring signals to the CNS
Motor: bring signals out of the CNS to the rest of the body
Inter: connect the spinal motor and sensory neurons and conveys signals between them

Q

What are the divisions of the autonomic nervous system? Brief description of each.

A

There is the sympathetic nervous system and parasympathetic nervous system.
SNS: prepares body for action by immediately increases the activity of visceral muscles, organs and glands at times of stress, threat or vigorous activity.
PNS: calms body down after action by gradually decreasing the activity of visceral muscles, organs and glands once threat is gone. Aims to bring body back to homeostasis.
