Nerves Of Anterolateral Abdominal Wall Flashcards
Course of Thoraco-abdominal
T7-T11
Runs between 2nd & 3rd layers of abdominal muscles
- muscular, lateral, and anterior cutaneous branches enter subcutaneous tissue
Origin of Thoraco-abdominal
T7-T11
Origin: distal abdominal parts of lower 5 intercostal nerves
Distribution of Thoraco-abdominal
T7-T11
Muscles of anterolateral abdominal wall & overlying skin
(T7-T9 superior to umbilicus)
(T10 around umbilicus)
(T11 below umbilicus)
Origin of Subcostal
T12
Anterior ramps of T12 spinal nerve
Course of Subcostal
T12
Runs along inferior border of 12th rib
Then onto subumbilical abdominal wall
Distribution of Subcostal
T12
Muscles of anterioabdominal wall and muscles of overlying skin midway btw level of umbilicus and iliac crest, inguinal ligament, and pubic crest inferiorly
Origin of Iliohypogastric
L1
Superior terminal branch of anterior ramus of L1 spinal nerve
Course of Iliohypogastric
L1
Pierces transversus abdominis muscle
Branches pierce external oblique aporneurosis of most inferior abdominal wall
Distribution of Iliohypogastric
L1
Skin overlying iliac crest
Upper inguinal & hypogastric regions
Internal oblique & transversus abdominis
Origin of Ilio-inguinal
L1
Inferior terminal branch of anterior ramus of L1 spinal nerve
Course of Iliohypogastric
L1
Passes btw 2nd and 3rd layers of abdominal muscles
Then transverses inguinal canal
Distribution of Iliohypogastric
L1
- Skin of scrotum or labium majus, mons pubis, and adjacent medial aspect of thigh
- Most inferior internal oblique and transverses abdominis
