Nerve Pathway Flashcards
Femoral Nerve Pathway (L,2,3,4)
Lateral of Psoas major
passes deep to inguinal ligament
enters femoral triangle
it divides to anterior thigh
Obturator Nerve (L2,3,4)
Medial aspect of psoas major
Obturator foramen
Medial compartment of the thigh
Sciatic Nerve (L4-S3)
exits pelvis via greater sciatic foramen inferior to piriformis
Divides into the common fibular and tibial branches at the superior angle of the popliteal fossa
Tibial Nerve (l4-s3)
Medial branch of sciatic nerve at the superior angle of popliteal fossa
Passes under tendinous arch of soleus to enter deep posterior compartment of the leg
Passes posterior to medial malleolus
Passes under flexor retinacilim b/w flex dig/hall long
Divides into medial and lateral plantar nerves
Common Fibular Nerve (L4-S2)
Lateral branch of sciatic nerve at the popliteal fossa
Winds around neck of fibula
Passes deep to fibularis longus
Divides into superficial & deep fibular nerves
Deep Fibular Nerve L4-S2
B/w neck of fibula & fibularis longus
Passes under extensor retinaculum b/w ext. Hall Long and Ext Dig Longus
Runs over the dorsum of foor lateral to Ext Hall Longus
