Nerve Palsies Flashcards
Sensory loss of skin overlying symphysis down to labium majus, nil motor loss
Ilio-hypgastric: (T12-L1) Directly cut or suture entrapment with Pfannenstiel.
Sensory loss of medial aspect of labium majus, nil motor loss
Ilio-inguinal: (T12-L1) Directly cut or suture entrapment with Pfannenstiel.
Sensory loss of anterior/medial leg & thigh, unable to lift knee (quadriceps)
Femoral: (L2-L4) Use of large blade self-retaining retractor, exaggerated hip flexion in dorsal lithotomy position
Foot drop, foot inversion
Lateral Peroneal: (L4-S2) Lateral displacement of knee with insufficient knee support (as in dorsal lithotomy position), hyperflexion of knee and hip (as in MMK).
