Nephropathology Flashcards
1
Q
histo patterns w/ hypercellularity
A
in glomerulus: proliferative (lots of extra nuclei)
in bowmans capsule: crescentic
2
Q
histo pattern w/ increased cap wall thickness
A
membranous
3
Q
5 possiblities of focal collections in glomerulus
A
- increased mesangium
- necrosis
- thrombosis
- amyloid
- sclerosis
4
Q
describe pathogenesis of crescent formation
A
- glomerulus is inflamed
- focal capillary destruction
- exudation into bowmans space (fibrin, macros, mediators)
- parietal epithelial proliferation forms crescent
5
Q
4 types of immune pathogenesis w/ nephropathology
A
- immune complex
- IgA
- anti GBM
- ANCA
6
Q
3 possible pathways of immune complex pathogenesis
A
- first, formation or deposition of Ag-Ab complexes (can cause membranous patho, depends on where the deposition occurs- ie subendothelial or subepithelial)
- could have complement activation and thus low blood complement (used up)
- could have PMN chemotaxis (proliferative)
- could have mesangial proliferation (mesagioproliferative pattern)
7
Q
renal types of vascular disease that cause renal patho
A
small vessel vasculitides
