war communism: the nationalization of the industry- produce was sent to red troops foghting in civil war
-this was horrible for the economy, and meant some peasants even burned livestock and produce to keep the state from getting it
what did nep do
n.e.p meant that peasants and people who owned means of business could sell a part of their produce; however the state still owned a major part of the industry
this was good for the economy, but it was a ‘step back from communism’ as it re introduces parts of the old capitalist system
what are KULAKS?
very rich peasants who owned large amounts of land and benefitted even further from NEP
what are NEPMEN?
were businessmen and women who took advantage of the opportunities for private trade and small-scale manifacturing created by the NEP
