Acoustic Neuroma (Vestibular Schwannoma)

A
  • 85% of all cerebellopontine tumors in adults
  • RF: NF type 2, loud noise exp, pedi rad exp, ho parathyroid adenoma, cell phone use
  • s/s: unilateral SNHL, tinnitus, facial nerve sx
  • MRI
  • surg/rad if large, young pt, or sig HL otherwise monitor via serial img & audiometry

  • MC malignancy of larynx
  • s/s: new & persistent hoarseness in smoker, persistent throat/ear pain, neck mass, hemoptysis, stridor
  • CT, laryngoscopy w/ bx, esophagoscopy, bronchoscopy
  • tx: rad or partial laryngectomy, chemo if late stage
