What are the three neo-classical theories?
A
Routine activities, rational choice and deterrent.

Explain deterrent theory and the different types of it.
A
It is the idea that crime can be deterred through the threat of punishment. Absolute, marginal, general and individual / specific.

What is rational choice theory?
A
It is the idea that offenders first carefully calculate the risks and rewards of a crime, before committing it. (exceptions: crimes of passion)

What is the routine activities theory?
A
Crime is more likely to occur when these 3 factors are simultaneously present: motivated offenders, attractive targets and absence of responsible guardianship.
