Q

AA amyloid

A

“Amyloid -associated Amyloid.” derived by proteolysis of serum protein SAA (serum amyloid-associated protein) that is made in the liver and circulates the serum with HDL. Production is increased with inflammation so this form of amyloidosis is associated with CHRONIC INFLAMMATION.

Q

Transthyretin (TTR)

A

normal serum protein, binds/transports thyroxine and retinol. If mutated TTR, result is ayloid deposition. Heritable neuropathic or cardiomyopathic amyloidosis.
