nutrition:
staff in care home should make sure the older people receive nutrition meals, providing options of food to encourage eating, supporting with feeding if required. eg someone who has had a stroke and has no power in their arms.
health and care medication:
staff should ensure the older person has their prescribed medication in the correct dosage and at the right time. They should be taken to medical appointments and contacting their GP if necessary.
personal care:
bath or shower so that they are clean and comfortable to help with their self esteem. staff can assist with toileting, ensuring dignity and respect eg leaving the room. Older person can be allowed to select their own clothing - sense of atonamy.

sharing of knowledges and experiences
mental stimulation:
staff can encourage older person to watch TV eg news to keep up to date and interest in the world around them. Books, newspapers and magazines could be provided.Activities coordination organises weekly activities eg bingo night
knowledge and information:
the staff could provide information about changes to the older persons care plan, condition, treatments etc. in a format that the older person can understand eg larger print for someone with a visual impairment / simple language
sharing of knowledge and experiences:
stall talking to the older person about past life, asking questions about occupation, family etc. activities could be based around reminiscence, keeping mind active eg sing a long of music from their era

respect and dignity
self esteem:
praise and encouragement to boost self esteem, eg complimenting new clothes or hair style
person centred care:
an individual in a care home will have a care worker and trust should be built. they should spend time getting to know service user. will helps them feel cared for
social needs

- interaction with staff and other residents in the care home
- contact with people in the wider community
respect and dignity:
door should be knocked before entering. close the door when older person is using the bathroom. should address person by their preferred name - feel respected
contact with family and friends
encourage family and friends to visit to talk in private eg private visiting room. open visiting policy or visiting times displayed at entrance to encourage visits
interaction with staff and other residents in the care home
encourage them to talk to other residents by holding conversations and take part in group sessions to make friends. they should encourage older person to go to sitting room during the day and eat with residents at meal time to develop relationships
