Q

what are the stages of mitosis?

A

chromosomes condescend in nucleus and centriole is visable at top of cell

  1. chromosome replication, number of chromosomes remains same but cell content of DNA has doubled
  2. nucleus disintegrates, chromosomes can move around the cell, centrioles move to opposite side of cell. centrioles are attached to centromeres from the spindle fibres
  3. all 46 chromosomes line up along the equator. centrioles and spindle fibres are still attached.
  4. spindle fibres start to contract, they shorten, pulling the identical sister chromosomes apart (in half again) then the chromatids move towards the centrioles
  5. nuclear membrane forms around the separated chromosomes now both new cells have a nucleus and their DNA becomes more loosely coiled. 2 new nucleus are formed (each one contains 4 chromosomes, 2 sets of 2 (2 the same color and 2 the same color) and has the same complement as the original parent cell. cytoplasm divides into 2 to produce the daughter cells which are identical
cytoplasm begins to divide so 2 new cells can form. the 2 new cells will be smaller than the mother cell but will grow

Q

what are 2 pros and 2 cons of genetic profiling

A

pros
can be used to identify genetic disorders early
can be used to place suspects at a crime

cons
storage of DNA profiles can be seen as an invasion of privacy

DNA could get planted at a crime seen giving false evidence when your innocent
