deep to the prevertebral deep cervical fascia
posterior to cervical viscera and anterolateral to cervical vertebrae
Where are the viscera found in the deep neck?
Deep to the pretracheal sheath of deep cervical fascia

Longus Colli
Longus Capitis
Rectus Capitis Anterior
Anterior Scalene
What are the 3 layers of neck viscera?
Endocrine - thyroid and parathyroids
Repiratory - larynx and trachea
Alimentary - pharynx and esophagus
Where are the anterior group muscles found in the neck?
Medial to plane of cervical/brachial plexus and subclavian artery
Posterior to retropharyngeal space
What do the anterior group neck muscles do?
Generally flex head and/or neck
Superior Attachment of Longus Colli?
Anterior tubercle of C1 vertebrae (atlas)
Bodies of C1-C3 and transverse processes of C3-C6
