Posterior Belly: Facial nerve (CN VII) Anterior Belly: Trigeminal nerve (CNV3)
Digastric Action
- Moves hyoid superiorly and posteriorly in swollowing 2. Opens jaw against resistance
Omohyoid Origin
Inferior belly: Superior margin of scapula. Superior belly: Hyoid
Omohyoid Insertion
Intermediate tendon attaches to posterior clavicle and 1st rib by fascial sling
Omohyoid Innervation
Branches of Ansa cervicalis
Omohyoid Action
Strap muscles as a group depress larynx, hyoid bone and floor of mouth during swallowing
