The neck is sufficiently long to allow the nose to reach the ground easily, muscular and free from pendulous “throatiness”. It rises strongly from the shoulders and arches slightly as it tapers to join the head.

Long, strong, and slightly arched, not carrying head much above level of back. Slight throatiness, but well marked frill.
Sussex Spaniel
Strongly set into shoulders, powerful, arching and long enough to carry the head well above level of back.
