what is the NDIS?
the NDIS (national disability insurance scheme) is an insurance scheme which provides services and support for people with permanent, significant disabilities for their family and carers
how is the NDIS funded
the NDIS is funded by the federal and state/ territory governments and is shared between all levels of government
who qualifies for the NDIS?
to qualify for the NDIS, a person must be under the age of 65 and meet the residency and disability requirements.
what are the residency requirements?
must be an Australian citizen or have a permanent visa
live in a place where NDIS is available
what are the disability requirements?
have an impairment or condition which is likely to be permanent.
this reduced the ability to participate in tasks unless they have assistance from other people or technology.
what does the NDIS provide?
the NDIS helps people with disabilities to
- access mainstream services
- access community services
- -maintaining formal support
- receive necessary and reasonable funding
