What are the 4 main characteristics of an NDB

A
  1. A transmitter that consists of two aerial towers joined by towers
  2. Transmits on a single frequency in LF or MF 200kHz - 400kHz
  3. Occasionally uses higher frequency to minimize effects of mountainous terrain
  4. A known and published location.

  • tail of RMI needle indicates bearing FROM NDB
  • compass card rotates to indicate magnetic heading, needle indicates magnetic bearing
