NCT and SNS LOA Flashcards
Automated point outs may be used when…
Aircraft intentions or destination is in the data block
or intentions are clear and no further info is necessary
Request IFR clearances from
Area A Flight Data
Issue Salinas DP to
All IFR departures unless otherwise advised
Instruct departures not on published DP to
Expect NCT assigned altitude 5 min after departure
Departure frequencies
133.00 or 251.15
unless otherwise advised
Opposite direction procedures apply to
Aircraft receiving IFR services
including VFR aircraft executing a practice approach
Responsible for initiating opposite direction coordination
Local Control and the NCT controlling sector
Opposite direction coordination must be
On a recorded line and state “opposite direction”
Opposite direction coordination must include
Call sign, aircraft type, and arrival or departure runway
Opposite direction traffic advisories must be issued to
Both the arriving and departing aircraft
“Opposite direction traffic (distance) mile final, (type aircraft).
“Opposite direction traffic departing runway (number), (type aircraft).
Opposite direction procedures do not apply to
Emergency aircraft operations
IFR Arrival/IFR Departure: Ensure IFR departing aircraft is airborne and turned to avert prior to
Cutoff points:
7 NM for jets and turboprops
5 NM for props and non-jet aircraft (cruise speed 179 kt or less)
Mixed types: arrival aircraft will determine the cutoff
May be applied once aircraft is airborne
Diverging courses or visual separation
Required longitudinal or lateral separation must exist first
IFR Arrival/IFR Arrival: NCT must ensure the first arrival has crossed the runway threshold prior to the second aircraft reaching
Cutoff points:
7 NM for jets and turboprops
5 NM for props and non-jet aircraft (cruise speed 179 kt or less)
Mixed types: the highest performing aircraft’s, or largest mileage, must be used
IFR Departures - NCT must coordinate with tower prior to changing the assigned heading/route of the departure when below
1,500 ft
IFR Departures - Tower must
Coordinate with Fremont for release, shall be considered assumed departure time
Ensure aircraft departs w/in 2 min of release or obtain a new release
Advise NCT when IFR departure does not “auto-acquire” within 2 NM of departure runway
Aircraft requesting practice instrument approaches must have
The type of instrument approach entered in the secondary scratchpad
IFR Arrivals - NCT must
Transfer arrival info at least 15 NM from the airport via the RACD
Initiate an ARTS automated datablock transfer on all full-stops or tower pattern
Transfer communications prior to FAF or 7 NM
IFR Arrivals - Tower must
Advise NCT when an aircraft cancels IFR or executes unplanned missed approach
