NCCPT General Flashcards
The exchange of gases
between the lungs and the
blood.
External respiration
The process of diffusing
oxygen from the blood into
the interstitial fluid and into
the cells
Internal respiration
Average adult respirations
12 to 20 per minute
Muscle spindle
sensory
organ that senses muscle
stretch in a muscle and
promotes muscle action
GOLGI TENDON
sensory
organ that senses muscle
tension in a tendon and
inhibits muscle action.
What is Supercompensation
a period where the trained function has a higher
performance capacity than the baseline
caffeine can help to stimulate
Epinephrine
What is the FITT principle
Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type
What are the chambers of the heart
Left and right atrium (upper)
Left and right ventricle (lower)
How does blood flow through the heart
The right atrium receives deoxygenated blood. It moves to the right ventricle,
it is pumped to the lungs to receive oxygen. Oxygenated
blood returns to the left atrium, then moved into the left ventricle
and out to the rest of the body.
What is the Sinoatrial (SA) node?
Part of the heart that initiates contraction of the right atrium
Called the pacemaker of the heart
How soon after training stops can muscle atrophy occur?
two weeks
he ability to react and change body position with a maximum rate of force production.
Quickness
What is the OARS model?
Openended questions
Affirmations
Reflective listening
Summarizing
What is Vital Capacity
The greatest volume of air that can be expelled from the lungs
