An example of a simile is:

escape
to run away from a bad situation.
The girl wants to escape from her chores and other responsibilities.
path
a place for people to walk in a park or forest.
Bill and his dad walked down the path.
first-aid kit
a plastic box, or kit, that holds medical items like band-aids, medicine, medical tape, and cleaning pads.
Bill’s dad went to the truck to get the first-aid kit so he could fix Bill’s cut.
homograph
Words that are spelled the same but have different meanings. (homo = same; graph = written/drawn)
An engine is part of a car.
The actor has a part in the play.
She parts her hair to the left.
homophone
Words that sound the same but are spelled differently. (homo = same; phone = sound)
Two socks that go together are called a pair of socks. (pair)
I ate fruit for a snack. I ate a pear. (pear)
Pair and pear sound the same.
noun
In English grammar: A word that indicates a person, place, or thing.
Ex. Dogs, parks, and people are all nouns.
verb
In English grammar: A word that indicates action, a state of being, or occurrence.
Ex. She mixes the eggs and milk in the bowl. (The verb is “mixes”.)
He walks to school. (The verb is “walks”)
flat
Flat is like paper or the top of a table.
Some bread is flat like a tortilla.
