September 1933 - Nuremberg Laws **
The Reich Citizenship Law - Jewish people were deprived of many political and economic rights and were made wards of the state.
The Law for the Protection of German Blood and German Honour - It became illegal for Jewish people and Aryans to marry or engage in sexual relations outside marriage.
1935 (army)
Jewish people were banned from serving in the army.
1936
The persecution of the Jewish people eased off during the 1936 Olympics, which were held in Berlin.
January 1937
Jewish people were banned from key professions including teaching, accountancy and dentistry.
April - June 1938
Jewish people were ordered to register all their wealth, property and businesses.
July / August 1938
Jewish people had to carry identity cards.
September 1938
Jewish people were banned from all legal practices.
October 1938
They had to have their passport stamped with a J-shaped symbol. They were forced to use new names: ‘Israel’ for men, ‘Sarah’ for women.

The murder of a Nazi diplomat by a Jewish person was the catalyst for a massive outbreak of Jewish persecution. It became known as Kristalnacht from the broken glass on the streets.

January 1939
Jewish people were encouraged to emigrate from Germany. Hitler spoke of future annihilation of Jewish people if they caused a world war.
