Describe the use of the police in control via terror

A

Police- Run by Nazis therefore they were controlled and mainly of the high ranking police officers were Nazis themselves. This meant many Nazi crimes were overlooked.

Describe the use of the SS in control via terror

A

SS- were fanatical Nazis and they were also Hitler’s body guard. They could search and arrest without trials.

A

Deaths head unit- responsible for running concentration camps
Waffen SS- they followed the normal German army around and were the elite soldiers in the SS

Describe concentration camps as a for of control via terror

A

Originally they were set up to hold political opposition to the Nazi party. In the late 1930’s they became more deadly places with the Deaths head unit running it, after that time prisoners were more diverse (jews)and they were forced to work and create products.

Describe the roll of the Gestapo in controlling via terror

A

Nazi’s secret police. Kept watch on the citizens and made sure they were following Nazi laws. They tapped phones and used any methods possible. Any suspected nazi opposition were arrested and possibly send to concentration camps without trial.

Describe rallies as control via propaganda

A

Organised events so they seemed strong to the public and so people would hear the nazi message. They were huge and some held over 100,000 people.

A

Anti-Semitic images, images of Hitler and Aryan families were displayed in towns and villages across Germany. This spread the Nazi message to as many people as possible.

Describe books in control via propaganda

A

The Nazi’s immediately burnt books they believed carried anti Nazi messages when they came into power. These include books written by Jews or communists. Any new published book had to be censored (ministry of propaganda) and mass organised book burning took place.

A

The Nazi party controlled radio stations. This meant they censored all programmes and message and Hitler speeches were also broadcasted. They also mass produced radios and sold them cheaper.
