Who was found in the burning building?
Marius Van Der Lubbe- he was found in the building with fire starters and immediately confessed. He claims he was working alone. He was a Dutch communist
What happened to him?
He was found guilty immediately and executed
What do people believe?
People believed he worked for the Nazis or the communists
What were the consequences of the fire?
- Hitler blamed the communists
- he arrested 4000 communists on the night of the fire
- over the weeks, communists were sent to the dauchau concentration camp which was the very first one

What happened during the election?
- hitler tried to increase the percentage of of his vote
- however, the Nazis only got 43% of the vote and they needed 51% to pass any law they want

What did the Enabling Act do?
- it allowed Hitler to make any law without consulting the Reichstag
- he does not need Hindenburg’s permission
Why did the Catholics support the Nazis?
-the catholics supported it as long as they didn’t close the churches
