Voyage
A cruise of longer duration - more than 35 days from one country to another
Cruise
Term used to describe a holiday beginning and returning to the same port usually from 7 to 21 days duration.
Aft
Towards the back of the ship.
Bow
The front of the ship.
Forward
The front section of the ship.
Starboard
The right hand side of the ship.
Stern
The back end of the ship
Grade
Type of cabin accommodation. Also referred to as category.
Deck plan
A diagrammatic plan of the ships internal layout
Port
Left hand side of a ship
Knot
Unit of speed, equal to one nautical mile or 1.85km per hour
Berth
Dock, pier or quay. Or beds on board.
Bridge
Area on board where the ships officers navigate the ship
Gangway
Walkway for passengers and crew to board the ship
Midship
Middle of the ship
