The view that behaviour is the product of innate biological or genetic factors

The view that behaviour is the product of a environmental influences
What is Heredity?
The process in which traits are passed down from one generation to the next
What is the Interactionist Approach?
The view that both nature and nurture work together to shape human behaviour
What viewpoint does the Behaviourist Approach take?
Nurture viewpoint, behaviour is a result of our interactions with the environment
What viewpoint does the Social Learning Theory take?
Less extreme view on the nurture side of the debate, learn through others
What viewpoint does the Cognitive Approach take?
Interactionalist approach, share the same means of cognitive processing but they develop through the environment
What viewpoint does the Biological Approach take?
Nature viewpoint, influenced by factors such as genetics, the CNS and the endocrine system

Interactionalist approach, unconscious forces are nature and childhood experiences are nurture
What viewpoint does the Humanistic Approach take?
Interactionalist approach, innate drives to self actualisation, acknowledges problems with achieving this
