Nature of Science Flashcards
Cumulativeness of Science
Science builds over time as new knowledge is discovered.
Progressivity of Science
Science gets better over time. The best doctor is still alive today, and more advancements have been made since 2016 than all of world history.
Empiricality of Science
Science is based on observation of measurement.
Falsability Criteria
There must be a hypothetical way to prove a theory incorrect in order for it to be scientifically feasible. Both outcomes cannot prove a theory.
Replication of Results
Doing an experiment again to see if the results are similar/the same
Operational Definition
A concept is defined on how it is measured or produced. A study can’t be repeated if you don’t know the steps.
