Natural Selection And Evidence For Evolution Flashcards
What does natural selection mean?
It means the survival of the fittest.
What things affect an organisms chance of survival and how do animals adapt to suit the environment?
Predation, competition, and resources and disease act as selection pressures , this affect the survival and reproduces chance.
Animals adaption is when animals change to be able to compete with other species to survive.
How has bacteria adapted?
Bacteria have randomly mutated which causes changes to DNA and therefore become more and more resistant to DNA. This means that the bacteria sometimes are resistant to antibiotics and they get weaker over time, overtime antibiotics will become less strong against bacteria due to past down genes.
How do fossils show evidence for evolution?
The deeper the rock the older the fossil and that human evolution is provided by fossils and the evidence for them.
