Natural Greenhouse Effect Flashcards
What is the difference between WEATHER and CLIMATE?
WEATHER:
Day-to-day changes in the atmosphere.
CLIMATE:
Description of the system that generates weather.
What affects an Area’s CLIMATE?
-Latitude
-Altitude
-Wind patterns
-Topographic relief
-Proximity to the ocean
What causes the natural greenhouse effect?
The interaction of the heat radiated from Earth’s surface with the atmosphere.
What are some greenhouse gases:
-Hydrogen
-Carbon Dioxide co2
-Methane CH4
What is the ENhanced greenhouse effect?
Human-induced activity has increased the greenhouse effect
Examples of human activity that have led to a ENHANCED greenhouse effect?
-Burning fossil fuels/mining
-Agriculture/Land clearing
-Methane Emissions (by livestock, e.g. cows)
-Aersol releases
