Isle of Ogygia

Scylla and Charybdis
Charybdis is thought to cause a deadly whirlpool who sucks in water three times daily. There is an island nearby with a great fig tree on it.
Scylla was turned into a hideous monster by Circe, and she is believed to be on a rock an arrow-shot from Charybdis - she bites off the heads of people passing in ships.
