National Selection Flashcards
DNA
It what makes living things.
Nucleotide
In a nucleic acid chain a subunits that consists of a sugar
a phosphate and a nitrogenous base.
Cargaff’s rules
DNA always equal the amount of thymine.
Watson and Crick’s
They fingered out that DNA is a long twisted ladder.
Rosalind Franklin
She used a X-ray to diffraction to make these images.
Mutations
A change in the Nucleotide base sequence of a gene
or DNA molecule.
Adaptation
getting use to something.
Species
A group of organism that are closely related and can
mate to produce fertile offspring.
Evolution
a process of inherit characteristics within a population change over generations such the new species sometimes arise.
Fossils
The remains of a dead animal.
Fossil Record
a historical sequence of life indicated by fossils found in layers of the earth’s crust
Charles Darwin
A scientist who study nature. and how eloutin happened.
Traits
Something that you get from your mom and dad.
Selective Breeding
The human practice of breeding animals or plants that
have certain desire characteristics.
Natural Selection
The process by which individuals that are better adapted to their environment survive and reproduce more successful than less well adapted individuals.
Generation Time
The period between the birth of one generation and birth of the next generation.
Speciation
The formation between animals of new species as a result of evolution.
Primates
A type of mammal characterize by opposable thumbs and binocular vision.
Hominid
A type of primate characterize by bipedalism relatively long lower limbs and lack of a tail.
Homo sapiens
The species of hominid that includes modern humans and their closest ancestors and that first appeared about 100,000 to 150,000 years ago.
