What is Cardiogenic Shock? And what causes it?
Happens when the heart is no longer strong enough to effectively move blood
Can be caused by a heart attack
What is hypovolemic shock? And what can cause it?
Shock that results from low circulating volume
Diarrhea, poor fluid intake, extravasation from burns
What is hemorrhagic shock? What causes it?
Type of hypovolemic shock resulting from blood loss
Can be from trauma or internal bleeding
What is obstructive shock and what causes it?
Different disorders that inhibit preload or hamper afterload to the point where cardiac function is disrupted
Examples are PE, pneumothorax, and inhibited blood return from inferior vena cava
What is distributive shock and what causes it?
