What does P.P.P.V.A.T stand for?
P - Pitch, P - Pause, P - Pace, V - Volume, A - Accent, T - Tone
How can BUGPEF be used to show a character of high status?
Body Language: Open body language, Use Of Space: Using a lot of space, Gestures: Large gestures - Confident gestures eg. initiating handshakes, Posture: Upright posture, Eye Contact: Strong eye contact with others, Facial Expressions: (Depending of situation) Generally calm and collected facial expression.
How would an actor be able to use their voice to show someone is angry?
Pause: Long pauses to create tension - Interrupt others, Pace: Fast pace to show the rush of intense emotions, Volume: Loud volume, Tone: Angry tone
What type of character or emotion could be portrayed using a slouched posture and quiet volume?
Character - Low status, Shy.
Emotion - Sad
How would one portray a character feeling nervous?
BUGPEF: Closed body language, using large amounts of space (pacing eg.), biting nails, fidgeting, tapping, slouched posture, erratic eye contact - looking around quickly, biting lips, scrunched face.
Voice: High pitch, fast pace, little number of pauses, loud/varying volume, nervous tone
How could performance concepts be used to create a tense atmosphere?
Voice: Loud volume, long pauses, angry tone, low pitch
Movement: Using lots of space, upright posture, closed body language, folding arms, mad expression, pointing, sharp gestures
What type of character or emotion could be portrayed with an upright posture, open body language and strong eye contact?
Character - High status, Confident, Kind
Emotion - Happy, Confident, Angry
How can fear be shown through voice?
Pitch: High pitch, Pause: Long pause as character realises something, Pace: Fast pace to show the character wants out of the situation, Volume: Loud volume - shows the character is in great distress or quiet volume - shows the character is too scared to make noise, Tone: Scared tone
How could performance concepts be used to create a romantic atmosphere?
Movement: Using a lot of space, keeping lovers close together, strong eye contact between lovers, smiling, straight posture, romantic gestures such as holding hands/kissing/touching each others’ face etc.
Voice: Long pause while loving gazes are shared, calm or happy tone of voice.
