Hard palate anterior, continues to run posteriorly and flops over as soft palate
Describe the positions of the thyroid cartilage, cricoid cartilage, and laryngeal prominence
Thyroid cartilage is larger and superior with laryngeal prominence protruding from it. Cricoid cartilage thinner band found inferior to thyroid cartilage.
Where are the arytenoid cartilages?
Posterior aspect of larynx, sit on top of the posterior aspect of the cricoid cartilage
Which muscle attaches to the thyroid and cricoid cartilages? What does this muscle do?
Cricothyroid muscle, pulls cricoid cartilage upwards and arytenoid cartilages backwards (makes vocal folds longer and tighter)
