Orientation
Start of the story when the main characters and setting is introduced
Narrative conventions
Elements and techniques employed by the writer to make meaning in a story. They include; characters, setting, plot and POV
Narrative voice
The POV of the narrator. 1st, 2nd or 3rd person
1st person POV
The narrator is the character describing their own actions
Characters
The people or creatures in a story
Protagonist
The principle character in a work of fiction. The good character
Antagonist
The evil character who works against the protagonist
Complication
An initial incident which triggers the central conflict
Setting
Arrangement of the scenery and properties to represent the place where the movie is enacted
3rd person POV
The narrator seems to be someone standing outside the story which refers to all the characters by name or as he, she, they, them and so on.
Central conflict
The main struggle of opposing forces around which the plot revolves
Unsympathetic characters
Characters with who, you are not meant to sympathise
Sympathetic characters
Characters who appeal to us and have our good wishes
Resolution
The ending to s story which states the final outcome of the conflict and/ or what might lie ahead for the characters in the story
Climax
The decisive moment in a story
