Emotive Language
It is used to create mood/emotions/tone.
Anecdote
Short and interesting stories taken from a person’s past experiences.
Paradox
A contrast > Ideas/statement that oppose each other. “If you want peace, you must fight for it”
Statics
Fact to prove a point (used to persuade the reader to agree)
Expect opinion
Someone quoted > used selectively to support the opinion of the writer > Makes the reader agree.
Onomatopoeia
Use of word/phrase which has a sound that imitates the sound happening (E.g Crackle, whizz)
Hyperbole
An exaggeration > To dramatis a particular emotion/situation
Simile
Compare two things (Using As/Like)
Juxtaposition/contrast
2 different ideas lined together
Motif
A recurring idea or image
Sensory Imagery
Creates images in your mind
Visual Imagery: You can see it
Aural Imagery: What it sounds like (Screaming, boom)
Olfactory: What can you smell
Tactile: Touch (Describing how something feels)
The reader experiences a sensory overload, making the reader feel as a part of the text
Cynical
Don’t trust it or someone (You’re negative about it)
Propaganda
Appeals to your emotions not intellect.
