What were the Napoleonic wars

A

wars that Napoleon began in order to conquer more of Europe, hopefully all. At its peak, France conquered 2/3’s of Europe.

A

the nationalist movement was in response to the French controlling these areas.

Why did he invade Russia?

A

He invaded russia because they had continued trade with britain, which he said to stop doing. When he invaded, the russians were forced back away, but they set fire to all the ground as they escaped, which forced the French army into starvation. This was the ending of the Napoleonic wars (in general)

What happened before and after he escaped exile?

A

Louis XVII (Louis XVI’s brother) takes the throne and in fact does not turn France back into its old regime. Instead, he issues a constitution, keeps the Napoleonic code, and many emigres come back to France hoping to get revenge on the revolution supporters. Napoleon escapes to Paris, and rallies support him due to the disconnect against the new king, and rebuilds the French army within less than 100 days.
